Do your emotional reactions make your life feel like you'e on a roller coaster ride a little too often?

Do repetitive thought patterns spill out as low self-esteem, fear, worry, envy, perfectionism, or other uncomfortable ways of being?

Sometimes these emotional states can manifest in subtle ways, but still keep you wound-up, tight, and a tad defensive.  Sometimes they arise as an irresistible force, sucking you into drama and distress.

That’s how it is when troublesome thoughts and unpleasant emotions are in command. At times, your life feels out of control, confusing, and chaotic.  Or you may go numb instead and listlessly go through the motions of daily life.

All the while, you’re probably longing for the sweetness, joy, and love that pervades a happy mindset.  You just don’t know how to subdue the static and bring alive these positive qualities instead.

It doesn’t have to be like this!

Instead, you can learn to see, release, and replace difficult thoughts and emotions with positive ones.  That's called self-sovereignty, self-governing, or self-mastery.

What Is the Art of Self-Mastery?

People sometimes associate the word “self-mastery” with being cold, restrained, or rigid.  That’s not self-mastery at all; that’s repression.

True self-mastery lightens your heaviness, liberates your tightness, and frees your joy.  Self-mastery isn't about controlling, denying, or suppressing.  Instead, you use self-awareness to see what appears in your mind, allow more space so it's less disturbing, and develop your capacity to release it.  And, you use your conceptual mind to question your unhelpful mental patterns and emotional drains.

Self-mastery means taking an active role in your own growth, reclaiming your life from unwanted demands and limiting inner beliefs, and being in charge of your world:  your choices, your responses, your vision, and your direction.

The Joyful Wisdom Circle

So many readers have told me they feel dominated by difficult thoughts and emotions.  So I've created this circle for heart-centered women who want to take back the reins of their life.  Every month I create a new Joyful Wisdom Guide for members of the Circle to help you overcome these pesky states of mind and live your full potential.  The Joyful Wisdom Guide offers a unique transformational process, which delves deep but moves at a relaxed paced.

Each Joyful Wisdom Guide is thoughtfully designed to help you:

What Will You Receive?

At the beginning of each month, you’ll receive a new Joyful Wisdom Guide which includes:

  • A personal missive that revolves around a life-enhancing theme like confidence, patience, generosity, endurance, self-responsibility, connection, and so on.  In these letters, I share my personal insights, universal wisdom from the Buddhist tradition, and timeless inspiration from other introspective thought leaders.
  •  Prompts for journaling or contemplation that invite you to go deeply into the month’s theme.
  • Affirmations to support you in adopting, integrating, and expanding this quality in your daily life.
  • Tips on how to calm your mind and be more mindful.
  • A monthly challenge or actions steps to help you lock in new attitudes and behaviors

You can sign up at any time during the month and receive the current month's guide.  You'll also have access to:

  • The Joyful Wisdom Circle (Facebook group) where you can participate in the weekly discussion to find more joy and ask any questions you have.  I'll personally answer your questions and you'll receive support from the group as well.  (Participation is optional.)
  • The Joyful Wisdom Guide Archive.

The guides are 15-20 pages in length (1.5 spacing) in a downloadable PDF format - a substantial amount of material to support you for a full month, organized into sections for easy reading and engagement.  You can print each guide out and absorb it immediately or read and apply it in small chunks over the month.  You'll be able to return to each Guide as often as you would like - they are useful reminders.

In order to develop self-mastery, you'll need to regularly work with the prompts, exercises, and tools provided each month. This isn't magic, but it can sometimes feel magical.  There's something especially powerful about setting an intention and focusing as a group though we may live all across the globe.  Our energy as a group will support and amplify your efforts, even if you choose not to participate in the Facebook group.

Self-mastery is a life-long endeavor.  But as you engage with the ideas and suggestions in these letters, you’ll have bursts of insights, moments of triumph, and tastes of emotional freedom.  Success will build upon success.  Challenging states of mind will slowly lose their hold on you, making space for more joy, confidence, and freedom.

If you would like a gentle and systematic way to transform your stuck patterns, challenging habits, and false beliefs and instead thrive, please join my intimate, inner circle.  I strive to provide an ambiance of love, encouragement, and support.  Let’s explore together what it means to live authentically with self-awareness, compassion, and joy.

Kind Words

About the Joyful Wisdom Circle and Guide

  • "...you absolutely offer so much contagious joy, insight and support.  I FEEL your enthusiasm as we work through topics or thought processes and I like the space you give us to think and share. You're so generous with your insights in a very open way. For me, the most important part is the group dynamic that no one is judgmental, everyone is inclusive and supportive.  You can absolutely subscribe to the newsletter and read it all on your own and work through it with your own thoughts but the process is so much more robust when you engage actively in the community." - Randi
  • "Let me just say that the letters so far have been life changing…..especially the one about Patience.  [In a crisis]...I did not panic, I did not cry….instead I found the lessons from Sandra deep inside me.  My practice of these had ingrained them in me somehow, and I had found a new strength, and new ways to respond to this scary situation." - Donna

About Always Well Within

  • “Your writing is poignant – always offering powerful messages in an accessible way. The topics you touch upon seem broad enough to effect all areas of my life, yet with each post, narrow enough to not feel washed-out.”
  • “I don’t know how to pinpoint it but you always have something very helpful that encourages me in some way.”
  • “Your blog is one of my favorites as it deals with the issues most important to me. It has a very soothing, loving and compassionate tone to it that really makes me look forward to each email.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to wait until the beginning of the month to join?

No, you can join at any time during the month.  Once you make your payment, you'll have access to previous letters in the archive and will be added (on your request) to the Joyful Wisdom Circle so you can participate in the discussions there.

What if I get easily overwhelmed?

I've designed this process to be low key.  You'll receive one substantial letter each month that you can digest at your own pace.  For example, the first letter was divided in the three parts, so you could read one a week if you so desired.  I also facilitate one conversation thread each week in the Joyful Wisdom Circle so you won't be overwhelmed by daily conversations, although you are welcome to post there any time.

Why are you charging for this?

The Joyful Wisdom Letter isn't a newsletter.  It's a gentle, but deep dive into positive personal change, offering specific methods for transforming negative thoughts, emotions, and patterns and cultivating positive qualities in their place.

In addition, when you participate in the Joyful Wisdom Circle, you'll receive personal guidance from me in response to your insights, reflections, and questions as well as support and encouragement from other members in the group.  The fee is nominal for what you'll receive.

Do I have to participate in the Facebook group?

Participation in the Facebook group is optional.  Each monthly guide is a treasury of insight, knowledge, and guidance on its own.
